For awhile, we referred to the management staff at RPGFan as "senior editors," but along with that title not really conveying much meaning, it finally started to make me feel old, having been with RPGFan since June 1999. Which was only three months after the site was even named RPGFan. Back then, we were a small, scrappy team, so I'd busy myself with news updates, picture galleries, and a needed — yet amateur at the time — visual refresh for the site. These days I tend to do have a similar mindset, and involve myself wherever I can, even if my main role has been Creative Director for years.

As of August 1st, 2017, I took over as Managing Editor of these fine folks, but can't shed that other title. Working at RPGFan is one of my favorite things in life. To offer the news, reviews, and other coverage that we do, and to still be doing it after almost 20 years, is soemthing I'm proud to be a part of. And while we've had to say goodbye to some real talented people, the 40+ people we have now are some of the best people I could ever hope to be on this journey with. Not only does everyone excel at their work, but I've met some of my closest friends because of RPGFan.

But you're probably here to hear about me, I suppose...

My origin story when it comes to RPGs is probably a common one. Once upon a time, Nintendo Power had a promotion that involved giving away copies of Dragon Warrior (this was before 'Dragon Quest' finally became a global name) which was my first RPG. I liked it, but it wasn't enough to make me play others of its kind, until Final Fantasy IV (as II) came out for the SNES. Dragon Warrior may have been my first RPG, but it was FFIV that made me a fan, and is the real reason I fell in love with the genre. While Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger would eventually take over as my top games, FFIV will always be my "first."

Besides RPGs, I have an overwhelming love for most Nintendo franchises: Zelda, Mario, and Metroid in particular. I spent many an hour in World of Warcraft some years back, but once Final Fantasy XIV was rebooted in 2014, I've sunk an insane amount of hours into it, and just can't get enough. It seems weird to rank an MMO up with "regular" RPGs, but if I really compare it to other Final Fantasy games, FFXIV is rivaled only by FFVI for me.

The last time I updated this bio, the superhero genre of movies was big, but not as big as it has become. And I eat them up... if they're Marvel, but I really want the others to hit that standard too. I love a good sitcom, whether it's classics like Taxi, or some modern ones, but nothing gets me invested like a good sci-fi or fantasy drama: Lord of the Rings, The Dresden Files, Buffy, the list goes on.

And that's the basic surface-level version of me. Reach out if you want to say hello, or, you know, join this wonderful group of people I get to work with.
