Back in the 80s when I was just a Little Bob, I'd make my long-suffering grandmother chase after me to the Montgomery Ward in which there was a Sega Master System demo unit on display. Enthralled, I'd try out games and push buttons until I was dragged away. My parents bought me one that same Christmas, probably so I wouldn't spend so much time in Montgomery Ward. Eventually, I stumbled upon a little game called Phantasy Star which changed my perception of what a game could be. The epic story, sprawling alien worlds, colorful characters and bizarre monsters sparked a great deal of inspiration within me, and I'd fill notebook after notebook with drawings of my own ideas for sequels. It was then that I became a lifelong RPG fan.

Growing up in midwestern America, JRPGs offered me a window into a culture that was vastly different than my own, and that fascinated me endlessly. The 10-year-old me may not have understood all of Exile's nuance, but I recognized that it was profound. EarthBound took suburbs not unlike my own and added a dash of surrealism before projecting them through a very foreign lens. The list goes on, and what a wonderful list it is.

Well, anyway, about me. I'm originally from Kansas, but I've been living in London since 2001. I'm a guy who likes to try all sorts of different things! I've been in a few bands, I've done solo music projects, I've even curated a series of electronic music nights for a number of years. I earned my Bachelor's degree in sound art & design, and worked as sound recordist/designer for a few student films and freeware games. I switched focus a few years later and earned a Master's degree in Japanese cultural studies/creative industries.

Of course, none of this stuff pays the rent, so in real life I work in the office of a disabled adults' charity. My greatest dream is to one day design and score a cyberpunk RPG masterpiece, but in the meantime, I'll settle for writing about existing RPGs. What better place to do it than with like-minded peers? I thank the staff of RPGFan for welcoming me into their family, and I hope you enjoy my work.
